Therapeutic Massage Training Institute (TMTI)

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide the highest quality educational experience available; taught in a supportive and caring environment. We are dedicated to meeting the needs of the student as a whole person so each student becomes a fully prepared, competent, and caring massage therapist.

Our Approach

Our approach is person-centered. Classes are limited to 16 students which allows for 1on 1 attention. Our program balances scientific and practical learning with the qualitative elements of professional touch. Using creative teaching methods, we focus on the natural skills of each individual.

Our Students

Diverse professional and personal backgrounds as well as differences in age, education and interests all enhance the class experience. The common bond is a passion for bodywork and the desire to learn the skills towards a rewarding career.

The School

The Therapeutic Massage Training Institute is a proprietary trade school located in Charlotte, NC. Our facilities are located in an historic home that has been converted to classroom and office spaces and the school is situated on the 3rd floor.

Founded by Lynda Clay in 1987, now owned and managed by Liz Chandler since 2015, the Institute has been serving the Charlotte community for over 30 years, producing highly qualified professionals.

The school is located in the Dilworth neighborhood of Charlotte, at the corner of East Boulevard and Lennox Avenue. Easy access from the I-77 makes commuting from surrounding areas convenient.

Class room

Our facilities are located in an historic home that has been converted to classroom and office spaces. Students enjoy learning in the comfortable homelike environment.

The classroom space is well equipped for both lectures and hands-on instruction. Break areas provide students with a place to relax and study.

Study Resources

Administrative offices house a resource library, student services and records.

TMTI Faculty

All our instructors are highly experienced in their field and usually run their own practice while giving back to the next generation of massage therapists.

We are proud to have such an amazing team of teaching professionals.
