Clinical / Medical / Therapeutic

We often get asked what is the difference between the terms Medical Massage and Therapeutic Massage and many students will ask if they will have the skills needed to work in a medical setting if they attend a program that is therapeutic centered? In short, yes!

If we take an honest look, most of the time it comes down to advertising phrases that create the idea that one is better than the other. Is it really better to approach massage as medical or clinical and claim therapeutic is defined as relaxation with no real benefit? We don’t believe so and here is why.

Our approach to any type of massage is therapeutic at its core while treating the client as a whole person (not just an isolated injury). Delivering the functional outcome of clinical work is an important skill for any therapist but the focus should ultimately be on the client’s satisfaction as a whole. Many therapists enter the field of massage therapy to deliver alternative, holistic or complimentary therapy care to clients.

Often, our medical system misses the opportunity to deliver care focused on the person but rather just symptoms and injuries. Approaching massage therapy from a therapeutic standpoint, not just a clinical measurable outcome, isn’t just fluffy feel-good spa work, its about time we see clients pain as more than a clinical outcome but assist them in therapeutic healing focused on mind, body and spirit.

After completion of our professional training program our therapists are fully prepared to work alongside medical, sports and wellness professionals.

Even that fluffy spa work as someone once put it goes a long way in stress reduction giving the glorious feeling of being unplugged from the world!Students will gain the necessary skills to treat clients using clinical modalities with a therapeutic touch. We like to call it being a well rounded therapist, scientific in knowledge, therapeutic in approach.
So come join us in discovering all the exciting possibilities of being a professional massage therapist!
